!!! Do not run KinectRuntime-x64.msi directly !!! ... it seems to break things. Instead load the inf (see below).
If you accidentally did so, trash the driver in device manager and reload it again starting with 2.0.
This updated release only seems to apply to x64. If running 32-bit OS, stick to v2.0 only. -KC

To install the Kinect for Windows Runtime v2.2.1905:

Make sure the Kinect sensor is not plugged into any of the USB ports on the computer.
Download and extract the contents of KinectRuntime-v2.2_1905.zip to a location on your PC.
Right click kinectsensor.inf and click Install. Do not run KinectRuntime-x64.msi directly.
Once the Kinect for Windows Runtime driver has completed installing successfully, ensure the Kinect sensor is connected to the Kinect for Windows power hub and the power hub is plugged into an outlet. Plug the USB cable from the power hub into a USB 3.0 port on your computer. The drivers will load automatically.

Note: On first plugin, the firmware on the device will be updated. This may result in the device enumeration happening several times in the first minute.

Installation is now complete.
